Barnardo’s Women’s Safety Programme

A programme for women who have been impacted by family violence and who have a protection order in place. They’ll work with you to develop a safety plan, help you understand the violence in your life and support you to make changes that will keep you safe. Family Action

Family Action provides confidential support in West Auckland for all survivors of family harm, sexual harm, abuse, or trauma. Whether your experiences are historical or current, they will provide support to you and your family/whānau.

North Shore Women’s Centre

Providing support services for women experiencing difficult and challenging times to help them become stronger in their choices and lives. They offer:

  • free legal clinic

  • free social work service

  • low cost counselling

  • assessment service

  • information and referral.

Shakti

Shakti Woman’s Refuge Trust is a non-profit organisation serving migrant and refugee women of Asian, African and Middle Eastern origin. Shakti; meaning strength; works to have a world where women and children are empowered to live a life of dignity free from fear and violence and are able to exercise their rights, choices and responsibilities.

Shine

Shine providing confidential family violence support, information and advice. They take calls 24 hours a day, seven days a week on 0508 744 633. You can also webchat with them.

If you’re in immediate danger, call 111 and ask for the police. If it’s unsafe to speak, push 55 on a mobile (or any number on a landline) to be put through to the police.

Survivor Experiences Service

The Survivor Experiences Service is for people who were abused in state, faith-based, or other forms of care. They offer two services for survivors and whānau: sharing experiences of abuse in care, and records support.

Te Whare Ruruhau o Meri

Te Whare Ruruhau o Meri (Te Whare) is a kaupapa Māori social services provider. Located in Manukau and Kaitaia, we provide services to whānau on behalf of Te Hāhi Mihinare – The Māori Anglican Church.

Some of their services include:

  • A healing korowai programme for wāhine Māori
  • A healing tokotoko programme for tāne Māori
  • Non-violence programmes for wāhine and tāne Māori
  • Safety programmes for wāhine and tāne Māori.

 

Women’s Refuge Tāmaki Makaurau

They provide support and advocacy for wahine and tāmariki who are experiencing family violence. They are open Monday to Friday 8:30 am – 4:30 pm. No appointment required. You can call them on 0800 733 843.
