What we've done

Welcome to our website! We’re dedicated to making sure everyone can use and enjoy our site. We’ve put a lot of effort into following best practices for accessibility, and we’ve tested our site against the latest WCAG 2.2 guidelines and mobile accessibility standards.

We partnered with digital acessbility experts Access Advisors to check our digital accessibility. We know that making things accessible is an ongoing journey, and you might still come across some issues over time. We really appreciate your understanding as we work on this. If you run into any accessibility problems, let us know, and we'll do our best to sort it out.

  • We want our website to be functional and engaging for everyone. We’ve made sure to include alt text for images, which helps when images aren’t displayed or if image functionality is turned off. If you spot an image missing alt text, please email communications@kaikaranga.org.nz so we can fix it.

  • You can access our site from various devices. We’ve tested it on all major browsers as well as iOS and Android operating systems to ensure it works smoothly everywhere.

  • We’ve made sure that our colour contrasts meet accessibility standards, so text and background colors are clear and easy to read for everyone.

  • You can reduce site motion and contrast levels to suit your preferences. The website allows you to zoom in up to 500% without text spilling off the screen.

  • You can navigate most of the website using just a keyboard.

  • The website can be navigated using speech recognition software.

  • The site is compatible with screen readers, including the latest versions of JAWS, NVDA, and VoiceOver.

  • We also wrote the website text as simple and easy to understand as possible.
