AccessAble

AccessAble provides equipment, housing and vehicle modifications for people who have difficulty with everyday tasks due to disability or injury.

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)

Your GP or doctor will help you get an assessment and recommend next steps, like using insurance and choosing a specialist. They won’t do the assessment themselves but will refer you to the right specialist and advise on what to bring to your specialist appointment.

Typically, adults are referred to Mental Health Needs Assessment and Services in Auckland.

They are contracted by the Ministry of Social Development and ACC to provide disability equipment, information, services in New Zealand.

Equipment and Modification Services (EMS)

The Ministry of Social Development can support you with equipment and modifications to your home or vehicle to help with your everyday activities.

An EMS assessor can help you work out what you need and how to get it. They can also help you work out if you can get MSD funding and talk with you about other funding options.

Intellectual disability assessment

Intellectual disability diagnosis is covered by our public health care system for people under 18 years. Diagnosis for people 18 years and above is not subsidised. Talk to your family doctor and any specialist your child sees about getting an assessment.

It’s important to schedule appointments promptly because wait times can be long. Think about bringing someone with you for support. Having someone there can help you remember and talk through new information afterward.

North Shore Women’s Centre

Providing support services for women experiencing difficult and challenging times to help them become stronger in their choices and lives. They offer:

  • free legal clinic

  • free social work service

  • low cost counselling

  • assessment service

  • information and referral.
