My career growth at Kaikaranga
Kavindi's career journey with us shows how you can grow professionally while staying deeply connected to the people and purpose behind the work.
“I joined Kaikaranga in 2020, right in the middle of the pandemic. My official title was Funding Administrator, but like a lot of people here, I quickly found myself doing a bit of everything. One of the most impactful parts of my role early on was calling the people we support during lockdown, like checking in, seeing how they were doing, and offering help where I could. Those conversations created a real sense of connection, not just to the people we serve, but to the purpose behind the work.
Coming from a corporate background, I hadn’t really had the chance to connect directly with the people we support. Working at Kaikaranga changed everything for me. It showed me how much care sits at the centre of what we do, and how quickly we can step up when it matters most.
That sense of purpose has stayed with me as I’ve grown into my current role as a Funding Specialist. Career progression here hasn’t just been about moving into a new title, it’s been about building deeper understanding of the people we support, taking on new challenges, and staying connected to the people and communities at the heart of what we do. The stories people share with us are a constant reminder that what we do is about real lives, real challenges, and making things a little easier for the communities we serve.
What I value most about working here is that balance between professional growth and meaningful impact. There’s a genuine opportunity to develop your skills, stretch yourself, and take on new opportunities, while always staying grounded in purpose.
For me, Kaikaranga is a place where you can build a career and make a difference at the same time. That’s what makes the work so rewarding, and why I’m excited about what the future holds here.”
